The Problem
New Autoclave Requirement
QUT required a new autoclave capable of handling specific load sizes for laboratory operations. The new equipment also had to fit into a restricted space within the existing laboratory setup, which posed limitations on model selection and installation.
The laboratory’s plumbing was not designed to support the drainage requirements of the new autoclave. This created a significant installation challenge, as conventional drainage solutions would have required costly and disruptive modifications to the existing infrastructure.
Our Solution
A Custom-Designed Drain Reservoir
The Systec HX-150-2D installation provides Nepean Hospital Pathology with advanced sterilisation capabilities that exceed PC3 facility requirements. The vacuum and quick cooling features significantly improve processing efficiency while maintaining the highest biosafety standards for infectious material handling.
Project Results
Long-Term Reliability
The autoclave was successfully installed and commissioned, meeting both spatial and operational requirements. The solution also provided long-term reliability while minimising disruption to the laboratory.
